Bad day gone by

Monk is sitting in the chair looking out the window ready to bark at whatever is or isn't there. Sharona is helping him, front legs on the side table and back legs on the chair. Dash is running up and down the stairs chewing on a dead sweaky toy trying to get someone to chase him. Sammy is sitting at the front door trying to drill a hole thru me with her eyes, ears perky on top of her head. Does she need to go potty?... probably not.

two days ago they all got out on to the street and it was scary.

Monk has a tie down outside as he can jump the fence in a few places... I thought it was short enough that if he did try to jump he would get pulled back... well guess what I was wrong. He jumped the gate and was hanging from the otherside of the fence... I opened the gate to get him down but as I did that all the little dogs ran out to see the dog that monk was trying to jump the fence to get at. the girl with the dog was freaked out as 4 dogs rushed her. I was freaking out. That morning I had a dream that they all had gotten outside and now it was happening. I was able to get Monk and Sammy in as they they are much easier to grab then Sharona and Dash.. In the process I fell down on the sidewalk and skinned my knee up. Sharona started to bark at the neighbors cat and Dash ran down the street.... DASH my little bubby... I did not run after him.. I can't run as fast as a little dog. so I tried to get Sharona as she was not going to leave that cat alone after about 5 minutes of trying to catch her I finally got my hands on her.. she's a quick little bugger... and as I looked up Dash came running into the neighbors yard to see what Sharona was up to.. I scooped him up and went back into the house... Who knows how far he ran down the block. As I walked into the house my cell phone was ringing.. It was matt.... It took me pretty much all day to calm down and about 2 hours to catch my breath.... I'm happy to say no one was hurt other then me and i've made the tie down shorter so it won't happen again...

I have a bunch of stuff I should do today.. but I think i'm going to try to make some bread. I'll let you know how it goes as I've never made homemade bread before.

Things I should be doing: Cleaning up the house, buying paint to paint the inside of the house, painting the inside of the house, calling around to get quotes for wood flooring to replace the carpet upstairs that the dogs are distroying. trying to find more freelance work. walking the dogs... ( don't really want to bring them outside the fence ever again after the other day). and i'm sure a bunch of other stuff that is sitting at the back of my head making me feel guilty about making bread that is just going to make me fat if I eat it all. BUT. i want the house to smell like fresh bread so fuck the list, i'm going to make bread.

Feckin' Monk... Day 1 after we pick him up at the rescue, I tie Monk's leash to the inside of his dog run. He jumps the kennel--which is an open-top six-foot tall fence!--and hangs himself with his leash that is still tied to the inside of the kennel.

I run back like a madman and get him down. He just looks at me like, "hey, what the feck? you trying to kill me on my first day out of the clink?"

    Um...

Anyway, Nancy did an amazing job of getting all the dogs back. And Bubby--so cute! He went to see what was happening around the 'hood but came back when he realized Nancy wasn't with him.

    Bub can't be without Nancy...
